A warranty is only useful if you know exactly where it stops. Buyers who assume "10 years" covers fading, slat wear and graffiti end up disappointed; buyers who know the boundary can specify the right coating and budget for maintenance instead of arguing about it later.
This page states what is covered, what is excluded, and how a claim is handled — in enough detail to paste into a tender submission.
What the frame warranty covers
The warranty covers structural failure of the frame under normal public use: weld failure, tube or section fracture, and failure of the frame-to-base connection where the supplied anchoring kit was used as specified.
The term is 5–10 years depending on model and specification, and is fixed in writing on the quotation. A bench in a coastal park and a bench in an inland plaza do not carry the same term, because the exposure is not the same.
Slats, coating and exclusions
Slats and coating are consumable components and are excluded from the frame term. That is not a loophole — it is how the product is designed: every slat is individually replaceable without scrapping the frame, which is the reason the frame can be guaranteed for a decade in the first place.
| Component | Covered | Not covered |
|---|---|---|
| Frame and welds | Structural failure under normal use | Damage from impact, vehicle strike, deliberate bending |
| Coating | Adhesion failure or blistering attributable to the coating process | Fading or chalking from UV exposure, scratches, scuffing, graffiti |
| Slats (hardwood, WPC, steel) | Manufacturing defects present at delivery | Wear, splitting from neglect, rot where oiling was specified and not carried out |
| Stainless components | Material grade conformity to the quoted grade | Tea-staining or surface corrosion from chloride exposure without cleaning |
| Anchoring | Failure of the supplied kit used as specified | Failure of substitute fixings, or fixing to a substrate outside the specification |
How to file a claim
Claims are handled against the batch, not against a photograph alone. Send four things: the project name and order reference, the model and quantity affected, photographs showing both the defect and the surrounding context, and the batch or serial reference if it is marked on the frame.
We respond with an assessment and, where the claim is accepted, a remedy: replacement part, replacement unit, or a credit. Remedies are shipped with the next production run where practical, which usually keeps freight cost proportionate to the part.
Spare parts and replacement slats
Frames are designed for a slat cycle rather than a single service life, so replacement slats, fixings and anchoring kits are available after the original order closes. Ordering spares by model and finish code avoids colour mismatch between production batches.
For projects where the client expects to hold stock, a small spares allowance can ship with the original order — on the scale of 5–10% of slats, following the spare-stock method in our park seating quantity guide — which is cheaper than a later small shipment.
Frequently asked questions
How long is the warranty on AOTUDE park benches?+
5–10 years on the frame, depending on model and specification. The exact term is stated on the quotation, and coastal projects are quoted individually because chloride exposure changes the service environment.
Does the warranty cover fading or graffiti?+
No. Coating colour fastness and surface damage from graffiti, scratching or cleaning chemicals are outside the warranty. Coating adhesion failure attributable to our process is covered.
Are slats covered?+
Only for manufacturing defects present at delivery. Slat wear, rot where oiling was specified, and impact damage are excluded — but slats are individually replaceable, so a worn slat does not mean replacing the bench.
What do I need to send with a claim?+
Project name, order reference, model and quantity, photographs of the defect in context, and the batch or serial reference if marked. That set is enough to assess most claims without a site visit.
Can I order spare slats years later?+
Yes. Order by model and finish code so the batch colour matches. We can also ship a spares allowance with the original order, which avoids a later small shipment.
