Commercial Picnic Tables & Outdoor Dining Sets

Four platforms in this range: perforated steel, WPC, circular group and hexagonal. All four sit on the same welded steel sub-frame, so the frame specification does not change when the top material does.

Commercial picnic tables fail in two ways: the top rots where water sits, or the frame racks because the table was never designed to be sat on from the end. The fix is the same whether the order is a single model or a picnic table wholesale programme: AOTUDE builds both models with a welded steel sub-frame, a fully supported top and cross-bracing that keeps the table square after years of use.

Four platforms cover most public-space briefs. The perforated steel table is the vandal-resistant choice for high-traffic parks and schoolyards — self-draining, graffiti-resistant and effectively indestructible. The WPC table gives the timber look with no annual oiling, which suits campuses and hospitality grounds where maintenance crews are thin. The circular group table gathers a whole party around one central column, and the hexagonal WPC table seats six to eight in a compact footprint.

Both can be built with a wheelchair-accessible end on request: the top overhangs the frame at one end so a chair or wheelchair can pull in without a seat or leg in the way. We supply park authorities, landscape contractors and resorts with container-optimised flat packing and OEM dimensions on custom runs from 50 pcs per model.

Tender submissions usually need the parameter set before the price: the technical data sheet (TDS) package lists the drawing, steel gauge, coating build-up and anchor details we release with a quotation.

Which build fits which site

In practice commercial picnic tables are chosen from the site down, not from the model number up: vandal pressure decides the top, ground surface decides the anchoring, and mixed-ability access decides whether one end is built without seats.

Site conditionRecommended buildWhy

WPC Picnic Tables: Where the Material Fits

Two of the four platforms in this range are WPC picnic table builds: the rectangular model with teak-look slats and tapered steel legs, and the hexagonal table with integrated bench wings on a welded steel underframe. WPC (wood-plastic composite) slats give a timber appearance without an oiling programme — no sealing, no splinters, and rain sits on the surface instead of soaking into end grain.

Where it fits: campuses, resort lawns and hospitality grounds where the brief calls for a warm look but maintenance crews are thin, and vandal pressure is moderate rather than severe. Where it does not: high-vandal parks and schoolyards, where the perforated steel table stays the default because WPC has lower structural strength than welded steel bar. Slats are individually replaceable either way, so a damaged board is a spares order against the original model rather than a table replacement.

Wheelchair-Accessible Picnic Table: What Changes, and What to Ask

A wheelchair-accessible picnic table changes one end: the seat board and the leg under it are omitted so the top overhangs, leaving clear knee space for a wheelchair or a chair to pull straight up to the table at seat height.

Three things stay the same. The opposite end keeps its seats and its full load capacity. The anchoring detail is unchanged — the same base plates or embedded legs are specified with or without an accessible end. And the frame itself is identical, so the accessible end is a configuration of the standard table rather than a different product.

One procurement note: the accessible end is built as an OEM configuration rather than a catalogue SKU — confirm with sales before you write it into a tender. What to ask: the clear knee height and depth under the top, whether the access end is on one side or both, and how the clearance compares with your local accessibility standard. This is a construction detail rather than a certification — acceptance sits with your local authority, so check the clearances against the standard your project is tendered under.

Materials, coating and quality control

The same four stages apply to every model in this range, whether it is a catalogue item or a bespoke project — which is why a bench, a bin and a planter from one order will still match after five years outdoors.

Steel

Mild steel sheet and tube, laser-cut and MIG-welded; gauge selected per load path rather than a single house gauge.

Corrosion protection

Hot-dip galvanizing to ISO 1461 on request, or a zinc-rich primer where hollow sections make dipping impractical.

Powder coating

Outdoor-grade polyester powder coat over a conversion coating, cured to the coating supplier's schedule; any RAL colour.

Quality control

Incoming material check, weld inspection, coating thickness and adhesion, pre-shipment inspection with photo record.

Test reports (salt spray, coating thickness, material certificates) are issued with the shipment when requested and can be supplied at tender stage. We do not publish test figures for a product until the report for that specific build exists.

Frequently asked questions

Which top material is better, perforated steel or WPC? +

Steel wins where vandalism and cleaning cost dominate: it cannot be carved or burned and rain passes straight through. WPC wins where the brief calls for a timber look and no maintenance programme. Both use the same welded steel frame, so the frame life is identical.

How many people fit on a commercial picnic table? +

Capacity depends on the top length and whether an accessible end is specified — an accessible end removes seats on one side. Tell us your expected occupancy and we will confirm the configuration rather than publish a number that may not match your tender.

How are picnic tables anchored? +

Two options: embedded legs cast into a concrete footing for lawns and parks, or surface base plates with expansion anchors for paved areas. Both are supplied with stainless fasteners and a fixing drawing for your contractor.

Can picnic tables be shipped in a mixed container with benches and bins? +

Yes. Frames nest and tops pack flat, so picnic tables, benches and litter bins can share a 40ft container. Mixed loading is the normal way to reach MOQ across a full streetscape package.
