Park Bench MOQ: How Manufacturer Minimum Orders Work
Park bench MOQ explained: per-model minimums from 5 pcs, how quantity breaks and mixed containers work, and what to send for an accurate bench quote.
Park bench MOQ is set per model, not per project: most catalogue bench models carry a minimum order quantity of 20 pieces, while selected builds start from 5 pieces — the exact figure is printed on each product page. Custom runs start at 50 pieces per model, and because mixed models can share a single container, a small seating package rarely has to carry the freight cost alone. That is the whole rule; the rest of this article explains how to work with it.
Quick answer: catalogue park benches — per-model MOQ, 20 pcs on most models and from 5 pcs on selected builds; custom benches — from 50 pcs per model; mixed models (benches with bins, planters or tables) ship together in one container, each model meeting its own per-model minimum. Confirm the figure for your model on its product page or with our sales team.
Why bench manufacturers set a minimum order
A minimum order quantity is not an arbitrary gate. It reflects how a bench is actually made and packed:
- Powder-coating runs in batches. Colour changes on a coating line cost time and material, so small single-colour batches are disproportionately expensive to produce.
- Hardwood and WPC slats are cut from stock lengths. A short run still consumes setup, cutting and finishing time per profile, whatever the quantity.
- Steel end castings and welded frames are fixtured. Each model has its own jigs; a two-piece order runs the same setup cost as a fifty-piece order.
- Export packaging is built per unit. Pallets, corner protection and container lashing points are priced per bench, so very small orders pay almost as much to pack and freight as medium ones.
Understanding these drivers matters because it tells you where the flexible room is: a manufacturer can go below a comfortable production batch for a selected model, but no one can make a 4-piece container shipment economic on its own. The solution is usually loading strategy, not persuasion — which is what the next two sections cover.
The four order routes and their minimums
| Order route | Typical MOQ | Suits | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Catalogue model, single line | Per model: 20 pcs on most models, from 5 pcs on selected builds | Single-site upgrades, replacements, pilots | Figure is printed on each product page; ask sales to confirm the model you are specifying |
| Mixed container (catalogue models) | Each model meets its own per-model MOQ | Whole-site packages: benches + bins + planters + tables | Benches, litter bins, planters and picnic tables share one 40ft container; frames nest and flat-packed parts stack |
| Custom run (OEM benches) | From 50 pcs per model | City-wide programmes, branded streetscapes, bespoke lengths or slat patterns | Sample and drawing approval before production; confirm schedule with sales |
| Pre-production sample | 1 pc, per project | Tender submissions, finish approval | Sample terms and lead time are confirmed per project with sales |
The two figures worth memorising are from 5 pcs (the lowest per-model minimum on selected catalogue builds) and from 50 pcs per model (where a custom run starts). Everything between them is a question of which model you choose and how you load the container.
How quantity changes the bench price
Bench pricing steps down at container-scale quantities. On our product pages the pricing table shows the quantity bands — for example 20–99, 100–299 and 300+ units — without printed amounts; the unit price within each band is quoted on request. Two practical consequences:
- The first quantity band starts at the MOQ. A model with a 20-piece minimum quotes its opening band from 20 pieces; a selected build from 5 pieces quotes from 5. There is no hidden second threshold between the MOQ and the first band.
- Splitting a project across models can beat bulk on one model. Thirty benches and thirty bins in one container can price better than sixty benches alone, because both lines reach their per-model minimums and the container fills with mixed, well-lashed cargo.
If you are comparing suppliers, always ask what quantity their quoted price assumes — a price quoted at 100 units is not comparable to one quoted at 20, whatever the MOQ is. The full seating line — hardwood, WPC and steel-slat models with their printed minimums and band structure side by side — is browsable on the park bench category page.
Choosing a route: a decision table for buyers
| Your situation | Recommended route | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Replacing 6–10 worn benches in one park | Catalogue build with from-5-pcs minimum | Meets a per-model minimum on its own; no custom cost |
| Furnishing a new linear park (30–80 seats, mixed furniture) | Mixed container of catalogue models | Every model meets its own minimum; one freight cost, one customs entry |
| Tender specifies a branded bench with city logo | Custom run from 50 pcs per model, or catalogue model with laser-cut logo panel below custom threshold | Some catalogue models accept a logo on the side panel without crossing into custom-tooling territory |
| Pilot installation ahead of a multi-year programme | Catalogue sample batch now, custom run later | Approve finish and comfort on site before committing to a large run |
What to send us for an MOQ and quantity quote
A bench MOQ question turns into an exact answer the moment we know the loading conditions. Send:
- Model name or product-page link — or a reference photo if you are starting from a benchmark.
- Quantity per model, even a rough split (e.g. "40 × backrest bench, 20 × backless").
- Destination city and nearest sea port, so freight and container fill are calculated, not guessed.
- Mounting method — surface-mount base plates or in-ground installation.
- Slat material and colour — hardwood, WPC or steel slats; RAL code if the frame colour is specified.
- Programme date — when the benches must be on site, so production and sea freight are planned backwards from it.
- Project type and stage — municipal tender, private development or distributor stock, which changes the paperwork we prepare with the quote.
With those seven items our sales team returns a per-model MOQ confirmation, a banded quantity price, and a container loading plan in one reply.
Working with the minimum, not against it
Buyers who treat MOQ as a loading question rather than a barrier get better outcomes. Check the per-model figure on the product page — see the Fairway Park Bench and Steel Slat Bench for how the minimum and quantity bands are presented — then scan the park bench category for models whose minimum matches your phase-one quantity. If your project also needs litter bins, planters or tables, note that the same per-model logic applies across every specification in our catalogue, and a mixed load is normally the cheapest way to furnish a whole site.
For most buyers the sequence is simple: pick the model, confirm its printed minimum, and let the container do the rest. If you would rather skip the maths, send the quantities from the checklist above through our contact page and we will reply with the confirmed minimum, the freight plan and the quote in one pass.
